​About Us

AFDN is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit community-based organization in New York City. This organization was formed in spring 2016 by families caring for people with developmental disabilities. We come together because we share the same experiences and have common understanding for caring family members with special needs.  We help each other; we support and care for each other. We want our voices heard in the community. We advocate to eliminate social stigma against people and families having developmental and special needs.

传心是一個501(c) 3非營利社區組織，2016年春天成立於紐約，是由一群照顧有特殊需要家庭成员的家長組成。组织传心主要是因为我们對照顧特殊需要子女有相同的經驗和理解。我们分享共同的经验、交流心得、支持和彼此關愛。我们希望社区听到我们的声音，并打破社会的歧视。

AFDN connects over 400 parents having children with developmental service needs. Families and parents take key roles in organizing activities including monthly family/individual/group counseling and workshops, group and cultural activities, and discussions on school issues and IEP planning with family members. We maintain a community network of resources and we make referrals as needed.

  • Lead coordinator and co-organize with six (6) community agencies for the two (2) Chinese parents OPWDD forums in 2017 and 2018
